There are many peculiarities about business etiquette in different countries. Certainly, China is not an exception here. The first most common mistake, which foreigners do when doing business with Chinese companies is using Power Point presentation immediately after the start. It might be okay for the US, but in China this is very uncommon. Here everything revolves about relationships, one is supposed to establish them first and this is a bit slow process.
So when a foreign team just shows a presentation and then waits for their counterparts’ reaction, then it leaves the Chinese astonished, they do not know what how to reply. And this is not a good way to start cooperation.
